We aim to keep you up to date about developments at the practice through this practice website and our practice newsletter - which is available at the surgery quarterly.
PHLEBOTOMIST/BLOOD TEST
As from 1st March all blood tests will be by appointment only, therefore we will no longer provide a walk-in service on a Tuesday & Thursday. We hope this improves the service and reduces patient waiting time. If you require a blood test, please contact the practice to make an appointment.
SWINE FLU VACCINATION
We are currently offering a swine flu vaccine to those patients who are in an "AT RISK GROUP" i.e. chronic diseases, diabetes etc. Please contact the practice to check if you are in the AT RISK GROUP and they will be happy to make you an appointment.
We are now offering this service for children aged 6 months to 5 years of age, please contact the practice to make an appointment.
If you have flu-like symptoms you should stay at home and contact your GP who will be able to assess your condition.
For up to date information visit the website at www.direct.gov.uk/swineflu or call the Swine Flu Information Line on 0800 1 513 513
New Self Check-in Screen
We have a new self check-in screen at reception, we felt this would be beneficial to patients to book themselves in rather than have to wait at reception, this is proving to be successful and we would like to encourage everyone to use it, so they get used to how it works. We hope you like this new service and find it convenient.
New Text Service for Patients
We are in the process of installing our new Text Service, which we feel will be beneficial to patients, as this service will send you confirmation and reminders for your appointments and it will also be a useful tool to keep all patients up to date with practice information. If you would like to be included in this service, please inform our receptionist of your mobile number when you visit or call the practice. - This service is now installed and you should be receiving text alerts for your appointments
Patient Participation Group
We are currently looking for more patients to join our Patient Participation Group, therefore if you would like to come along and air your views and help make a difference, please contact the Practice Manager for more information.
Practice Nurse Services
If you need one of the following services then please make an appointment with one of our Practice Nurses: regular diabetes, asthma, blood pressure or hypertension checks. Smears. Travel medicine. Contraception advice. Alternatively you might need to see our Healthcare Assistant - she can also do spirometry, blood tests (at booked appointments) and new patient checks.
If you are going away and need advice on travel medicine make an appointment at least 2 weeks in advance with our Practice Nurse. We are also a registered Yellow Fever vaccination centre.
Prescriptions
If you require a repeat prescription please apply in writing to the surgery, allowing at least 2 working days for them to be processed. Please note that if you request an item that is not on your regular repeat request (i.e. new medication from the hospital), then please allow extra time for this as the item needs to be verified and added to your repeat, which takes longer than the usual turnaround time. We are happy for patients to call our reception to enquire if their prescription is ready for collection before they come into the practice to prevent any delays.
You can now order your repeat prescriptions through the website and download some practice forms. Please note that we cannot reply back to your email's, therefore you should telephone the practice if you wish to check your prescription is processed or if you need a response to any issues you may have regarding your prescription.
